Have you ever thought about what’s inside the air conditioning ducts in your home? It’s not unusual if you haven’t. Generally, most people don’t give their ducts a second thought, which is understandable -- after all, you typically don’t see them. However, it is important that you know what’s happening with your ductwork as over time, ducts can accumulate dust and dirt, mold, and other not-so-pleasant stuff. These pollutants can contaminate your indoor air quality and even threaten your health.
Why Clean Your Ducts?
Your indoor air is conditioned air that is distributed via your ductwork. That means that you end up breathing the dust, mold spores, and other contaminants that lurk within your ducts! That’s why we’ve recently added air duct cleaning as a service. A professional duct cleaning can offer peace of mind and it can also provide relief from some environmentally-caused respiratory problems.
Air duct cleaning is even more important if you have:
- Smokers in the household
- Pets that shed a lot of hair and dander
- Water contamination or damage to the home or HVAC system
- Anyone with allergies or asthma
- Recently completed renovations or remodeling
Your Wood Air Conditioning & Plumbing service technicians have the expertise to safely and effectively clean and repair your ductwork. Apart from improved indoor air quality, you will also benefit from a more efficient HVAC system and lower heating and cooling bills. If you doubt the value of duct cleaning, research conducted by the University of Colorado at Boulder and NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) has shown an energy savings of 11% after duct cleaning.
How the Process Works
We have state-of-the-art Rotobrush equipment with a brush that rotates at 450 rpm. While the brush spins, it loosens any debris stuck inside. As the brush scrubs the inside walls, the vacuum sucks up the loosened debris, leaving you with clean air ducts. Our Rotobrush is designed to give you the cleanest air ducts possible, with minimal disturbance to you or your home. Your blower fan, fan motor cover, and other relevant AC parts will also be vacuumed. Air vents and other vulnerable hardware are washed with detergent. If mold is discovered in the system, an application of a biocide may be suggested.
