Should I Be Scared My Ductless System Is Leaking Water?
Your ductless system in Paris, TX, may develop a problem and start leaking water. If this happens, one of the five reasons mentioned below is possibly causing the leak.
Problem With the Drain Line
The drain line carries water away from your ductless system. Dirt and other debris can block the line and cause water to back up into the mini-split. This backup can cause water to leak out of the mini-split and into your home.
Low Refrigerant Levels
The system needs refrigerant to help cool the air in your home. When the refrigerant level is too low, the pressure in your ductless system drops. If this happens, the evaporator coil may freeze.
The ice on the evaporator coil will eventually melt, and that can cause the drain pan to overflow and leak. Stay on top of maintenance so you can prevent refrigerant leaks.
Dirty Air Filter
The job of the air filter is to stop dust, dirt and other particles from circulating through the air in your home. But sometimes a filter might get too dirty, develop a clog and restrict the airflow. The airflow restriction can lead to the evaporator coil freezing, which might cause a leak when the ice melts.
Improper Ductless Installation
It’s possible that your ductless system’s installation is the issue. For example, if the system isn’t level or the drain line is set up wrong, water can leak instead of flow outside where it belongs. If there are other problems in addition to the leak, there may be issues with your system’s setup.
